Born in the Philippines in the 50’s, Robert was raised in a warm, nurturing environment. His earliest memories are of his grandparents instilling their love and faith in him. At age 5, Robert’s family moved to San Francisco. Surrounded by the Filipino Catholic community, Robert nurtured his faith serving as an altar boy. Deeply spiritual but unsatisfied, Robert began a pilgrimage in 1980 to find his roots and deepen his faith. Intending to return to the Philippines, Robert stopped in Maui. He has never left. Taken by the tolerance and generosity of the people, the natural beauty, and a new found faith, Robert found the spirituality he had been seeking in the soil and roots of his beloved island.
Robert expresses his faith through his selfless devotion to help his fellow human beings. He has devoted his time to helping adults with special needs, worked with children as part of the Special Olympics and assisted and counseled the dying as a volunteer for Hospice. Robert is proud to have been a member of Doorway into Light where he gave spiritual solace and comfort to those transitioning to the next life.

Ordained by the Universal Life Church, Reverend Roberto, as he is known, performs non-denominational ceremonies mixed with the traditional Hawaiian methods. Weddings are celebrated with the sound of the Pu (Conch shell) and oil shell. Roberts passion and love for God and humanity is evident in his ceremonies. He is a gentle, empathetic soul who values compassion, spirituality and love. Couples never fail to be moved Robert’s soulful, spiritual ceremonies.
